Potter praises Cucurella’s brilliance against Dortmund after guiding him through a tough phase

Marc Cucurella’s performance in Chelsea’s encounter against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night delighted Graham Potter. Cucurella helped Chelsea win. He was pleased with Cucurella’s performance because he had covered for the defense amid the club’s previous troubles.

Graham Potter was overjoyed with Marc Cucurella’s performance during Chelsea’s match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday night. Cucurella was a key factor in Chelsea’s triumph. He disclosed that he had been covering for the defender during the recent struggles that the club had been going through, which is why he was particularly happy with Cucurella’s performance.

Both Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz scored for the Blues in their 2-0 victory over the German team, which allowed them to advance to the quarterfinals of the Champions League. The Blues’ performance was exceptional, and as a result, they were able to move on to the next round of the competition.

Cucurella made his way back into the starting lineup and was inserted on the left side of three central defenders when he was given his starting position. Ben Chilwell took his spot on the left side of the defensive formation after he was replaced.

Because Chilwell has been able to make a full recovery from his injury and the Blues have been struggling overall in the Premier League, Cucurella has not been a regular member of Chelsea’s starting eleven in the most recent games. This is due to both of these factors.

Notwithstanding the team’s struggles with its form and the fact that the team as a whole has not been picking up wins, Potter believes that he has been trying to insulate the Spaniard from criticism by arguing that Cucurella has demonstrated his importance at Stamford Bridge.

That sounds to me like they presented him with the Man of the Match award; isn’t that right? Potter asked. “I couldn’t be happier for him.

You learn to shrug off criticism when you’re going through a hard stretch like we are, because you have no choice but to. The way that Marc has dealt with the matter has been really competent.

She explained that they had attempted to “shield him a little bit” and had chosen the appropriate time. He filled in for Benoit Badiashile, who was injured and unable to play, and gave us the left foot and the balance we required in a back three. To our delight, he delivered an exceptional performance in that role.

Potter and his team eventually snapped their losing skid with a victory over Leeds in the Premier League on Saturday. This triumph came after a number of dismal results for Potter and his squad. They have already won two games in a row thanks to their success.

In spite of the difficulties that they have encountered, Potter is pleased with the way that his squad has been able to come together, and he has voiced hope for the future.

He explained, “It’s not just this evening,” and I’ll quote him on this: “This has been a tough moment for us. It was essential for us to respond to Leeds’s inquiry. We put up a good fight against Dortmund when we were away from our stadium, but we were ultimately unsuccessful. We had a terrible first half against Southampton, which can start a chain reaction of bad events. Because of the circumstances, we have no choice but to cooperate, and the other participants have done the same.
